Lindsay,

I love this portrait. You have focused well on her eyes. She has good eye contact with the camera (viewer). The color saturation and contrast is very good. Her make-up looks good. The compositional balance is excellent -- I like the way you have framed her face and the position of her hands. This reminds me of a combination of fashion, portrait and street photography. It has elements of all three and works well for me. Her skin tone looks good. Even though she is in the harsh sunlight, the lighting looks very good. The shadows are filled in enough so that they are not too dark and her eyes don't seem bothered by the sunlight. There are enough shadows to add interest to this photograph. I really like her expression.

There are a few things that I think could be improved...

The background is somewhat out of focus, but I wish it was more out of focus so that your subject would stand out even more.

She is quite well separated from the background. It would be better if her hair was a bit more separated from the background. It blends in a bit.

I can understand her outfit if this is meant to be a fashion shot, but otherwise the individual articles of clothing don't seem to go together very well. The clothing doesn't go well with the location, either. Her pants seem a bit casual to go with the jacket. The bright blue jacket and black and white boldly patterned shirt draw my attention away from her face.

I would like to see more distinct catchlights to give more life to her eyes.

You should retouch any imperfections on her face.

Straighten the image so that your vertical lines are vertical and your horizontal lines are horizontal. I am concerned about the lines in front of her, not behind her. Any error in doing this really stands out in this image.

Nice shot,

Mark
