Why not made a vertical crop until the center tree? it's too prominent and the right part is not interesting. . (waterfall is great. :-))

Maybe you have reason, maybe not. At the time of the shot, I have tried the vertical frame, but because of the lack of light, it was too low, too dull, and I decided to insert the trees on the right in order to put the waterfall within its scenery and give a little more interest to the photo.

I think the format works nicely, as you said. It gives the scene more context, and the moss along the side is very interesting and lush.

This is my favourite of your scottish portfolio. Beautiful composition and amazing mosses, beautiful greens. You were very fortunate that it was a dull day. It is much better to shoot these scenes in overcast light to prevent harsh shadows and therefore unforgiving contrasts. Nice movement in the water. Nice all over. Thankyou also for your kind words of my photos!!. Well Done.

I like the horizontal crop and agree about the adding of detail to offset the dark around the falls. So many waterfalls are verticals, it's nice for a change. I also love seeing photos of my mother's homeland. Someday I'll get to Scotland. Nice work!
