Great capture/pan. I'd say you pretty much nailed this one; shutter speed was good to get a nice blur both on the wheels and in the background during the pan. Technically, I think the only niggle I can think of is to move the focus point more towards the rider's head rather than his waist, but given his riding angle, his (probable) rotation, it might have blurred details outside the focus plane a bit too much; you got it pretty well. Given the spontaneity of sports, I'm guessing you aimed at the centre of mass and just shot, which is pretty much what I do.

It looks like you found a good place to actually shoot from as the background isn't devoid of details and gives a nice background to the shot. Personally, I think that if you were able to shoot about half a second earlier, so that you caught more of the front of the rider than the back (and his elbow not being so much in the way), it would have been a little sweeter. My comments are still quite minor though - you've done an excellent job.
