Open water is hard during winter in the Canadian Rockies, so I was

pretty happy to come across this partially frozen area in Kananaskis

Country. The water was partially open due to some hot springs

running, so I was able to capture this image at sunrise. Thanks for

looking! Chip

Chip,

You had a good chance to give it.  I like the composition and the details on trees (not everything on black).  I miss the right side of the pond.  If you used a GND I really don't see it.  Well done. 7/7.

This is simply a superb composition.  I really like how the small amount of open water, now partly frozen over, leads the viewer's eye on toward the mountain.  The light on the mountain and clouds is wonderful.  This is very nicely done.

Chip - It loks like it all came together for this.  I especially like the way the water hole seems to mirror the mountain range in its shape.  Gorgeous light and comp., processing looks perfect as well.

Drop dead gorgeous image Chip. Damn I just scouted this location last week too! I was planning on heading out there this weekend, but looks like it's going to be overcast all weekend, with 20 cm of snow scheduled. That's some sweet light you caught here!

All the best,
Neil
