Magnificent shot.  The 'stemming' of the hind leg counters the negative effect of centering the subject.  The steely-eyed stare along with the taut flexing of the cat suggests that the animal is poised to attack.  It is setting up its strike in the same way that you composed this photo (care and attention to detail with nothing left to risk).  Rarely have I seen animal captures this well structured.

 

Out of interest, what is the cat?  He's a bit bigger and coloured differently than the Lynx that stalk our woods in Squamish.  Bobcat of some sort?
