I don't know how you manage to come up with so many of these goodies all the time, Jack -- and all of them delicious at that...! (I can't really keep up with you :-) This one is really great, an instant favorite, and your title is a perfect fit, imo. I like the subdued color combination of reds, black and greys here, and of course, the way Garfield is so casually heading home... (btw, looks like he's actually stepping over some kind of mouse trap)

Oh my, oh my... I wouldn't even dare to dream of witnessing a moment/scene like this around here (just to become frustrated). You surely live in an oasis filled with ever changing surroundings, backgrounds for happenstances like this - without snow, BTW ;-)

The way the building wall is cut out so closely to the sliding door does give me the fooling impression this scene were just a flat build for a movie (OK, I'm way too concerned about technical details...) This scene is so Japanese with all those familiar items (seen on your earlier photos) spread around on the street: the umbrella, the dustpan, carefree wiring. But the main attraction is the very cute B&W Bar poster and the colorful doll... and that conga linking to the notes on the poster and then to the local Garfield by it's color. Oh my, oh my, indeed!

Cute shot, makes me jealous. I like the composition, that there's a cat in the picture, and how it's a happy, happy, happy place. Not sure that it's lucky, lucky, lucky,  but maybe it is.

You are THE master of entertaining photos. Most of us could never even hope to be lucky enough to have these component all come together at once while we have our camera handy.  Great fun. Great shot. ~~~~~L

Thanks a lot for taking the time to comment on this picture. I usually consider myself more of a guerilla photographer, shooting quickly, hit and run style, and then effecting a quick getaway as opposed to those photographers who stake out a promising site and then wait for something interesting to come along and move into the frame. I usually don't have the patience for this, which I call the "duck blind" approach. But here I decided to hang around a bit and see what might develop and I did get some half-way interesting shots which I have attempted to attach above. I say attempted because I can never figure out the arcane rules for attachments and am forever getting "error" notices. But here goes.

Jack, both the images are attractive . In your process of photography, there is a very organized and creative method in the madness. In your ' hit and run style', you shoot with precision and always hit the bull's eye. Garfield walking over the mouse-trap is an example. Cool caption, indeed.

Jack, I think that your outtakes are equally interesting.  = A personal preference in the end, I believe, as I still very much like the above one. Although, I really like the B&W's as well. (puts a stronger emphasis on the black cats) -- Especially the 1st one, works just perfectly in B&W, imo.  Again, great capture(s)!

Hmm... duck blind... interesting term. For my part I'm glad you decided to stay around to catch this Garfield, lucky you. I had saved a lot of typing if you had chosen any of the other alternative shots - but that's just me. They are OK but not quite my alley.

BTW I were tempted to crop a square tighter crop collecting just Garfield and those two B&W posters. While looking at this wide version I can easily imagine being able to discover similar "bohemian" scene somewhere in Berlin.

hi Jack..how clever, the photo of the cat with the Happy happy happy and the lucky, lucky lucky is so childlike and playful if an adult created it i would like to meet him or her. there is so much life here. the heart the bed springs the doll and empty chair and the cat above resembles a petroglyph... take care sam

Love it...every shot is worthy of its own space. This one exists well on its own merits, but I particularly like the shot of the older guy with the cig in his mouth. In my opinion, it's one of the better shots I've seen in quite a while. My eye is always drawn to vibrant colours easily, in this case I'm drawn expertly to the guy, the look he is giving you right at that moment where the gears click. Nice work.

Jack,

I have sent the link for this photo to my sons, in case they visit that part of the world sometime later. I hope Mr. Garfield will also be there to share a glass or two with them! Happy (x3), lucky (likewise)!

I'm guessing that the cats that get lucky lucky lucky are the ones that go home happy happy happy. Every cool cat bar should have a bongo at the door.

a really fabulous scene that wouldn't be so compelling if it weren't for Garfield, which bored and disappointed with the performance in this street theater leaves the place unnoticed. Saying you're a clever observer with witty vision would be a truism but here I've got the impression that you're juggling the components.

Love this shot, Jack. It' so whimsical; one of the best street captures I've seen in some time. And your caption is perfect: that last customer looks like he's slinking home after having way too much fun. Regards...Bill

Whoever said that street cats can't be happy ?! The 'alley-cat meme' just entered a whole other dimension and theme.
