Richard, I commented on your other version of this photo.  I think this composition is superb.  Without the foreground, and without an "almost but not quite all" inclusion of the tree crown, the viewer's attention is squarely focused on the golden grasses, which are simply beautiful.  I like the variation in light (i.e., some shadows here and there) as well as the individual grass stems that protrude into the sky on the left half.  Here, your intention as a photographer is completely unambiguous; on the other version, I wasn't quite so sure.  Very nicely done.

I completely agree with Stephen's comments here.  This is, in my opinion, the much stronger image of the two.  Very painterly color palette here too.  Nicely done, Richard.  Cheers!  Chris
