Hi Nicholas:

I get a real sense of joy from this photo. Wow, would I ever like to be there instead of here in -12C weather (-25C with the wind chill).

I notice the shadows in the upper corners (caused by a lens hood or a filter?). They could easily be removed by cropping or clone-stamping. I also see the water marks on the lens. Some may say that these are distracting; however, I they may a certain appeal if your model had just thrown the water at you (no indication of that).

Hope this helps.

Regards, John

The shadows on the woman's body really hurt this photo. They are very deep and they really show up any flaws in her figure. I minimized them considerably and "slimmed" her down a little, to make it more flattering.

There is also some vignetting in the very corners, however I find that far less objectionable as I do the very unflattering lighting. A fairly strong fill might have mitigated those shadows considerably.

Scott, why do you think artificially making the subject of a photo slimmer is either flattering or called for?

hi john,

thanks for your comments. I actually put the corner shadows in afterwards, i kind of like them :) You're absoulutely right about the lens spots though, they look pretty sloppy. My camera had been through some rough times and the sensor was covered in spots, but has been cleaned now :)

Peace,

Nick.

Scott, your version looks fake and ridiculous. It's obviously not meant to be a glamour modelling shot, just a happy girl in a beautiful place on a nice day.
