Climbed out of my skin yesterday to photograph something way out of the norm for me. This graffiti is on the side of a large abandoned tank once used in the oil fields. The sun was setting behind me, offering the artwork an extra splash of color. I plan to go back sometime soon to recompose some additional images. Thanks for any thoughts!

This is great.....and yes, a bit different from what we've come to expect from you.....that's okay! ;-)   I find rust in general a very compelling subject matter; in fact, I have several similar shots I've been wanting to post.  But the splashy graffiti and warm colors make this even more interesting.  I'm glad you decided to get out of the hills for this one!  :-)  I'm not sure, but you might want to sharpen it up just a titch.  Take a look and see what you think.

I like fagritti, it's especially good with ranch dressing.  But in all seriousness there is some real artistic expression with some of these masters of the spray can.  Did a bit of this sort of photography on railroad cars and bridge underpasses. Having read your PI again I share in your lunacy.  For if we don't have a passion sor something life can become rather droll. Having said this I appreciate your talent, compassion allowing all of us to share in the surroundings which you so beautifully lend to us all.  Take care, rek.

Thank you Christal and Richard! Christal, there is enough sharpening on the full res, perhaps the web version has softened. This is more of an experiment of trying to see more with my eyes and camera, sharpening my saw if you will!

While this might be a bit out of your wheelhouse, you've managed to capture and create a very effective and interesting image.  While a nifty piece of abstract imagery, it is at the same time a really neat record of a part of the local culture of the southern Central Valley in the early 21st century.  Good eye to see this one, Mark!  Cheers!  Chris
