Interesting work, colours, elements, mood. Perhaps the control of light sources could be better (sun is in back-ground and there could be a little back-light on bird), this is just my personal opinion.

Pauline, just-Wow. Your portraiture captures the mood and soul of your subject, no matter the genre. IMHO, that's what makes your imagery so timeless and captivating. Agree with the soft backlight to separate subject, directional from the upper left. Again, Job well done!! Edit: I see how that might conflict with where the light source in your image is, would play with it for best effect.
