Very interesting capture and of very powerful DOF and composition, the present of the figure on the back ground adding a great credit to the quality of this work.

Interesting that you uploaded both a color and b&w version of this picture. I was immediately drawn to the stronger tones of the monotone photo which is much more immediately accessable. But the softer approach of the original color shot seems to have a bit of the character of a fine wine, not as powerfully dramatic perhaps, but more subtley nuanced and delicately balanced. Surprisingly I find that I like the gentler, old world quality of this version the better of the two.
