marcadamus 1 Posted February 4, 2011 Good light can be far and few between on the Olympic coast in winterbut patience pays off. This island is located near my campsite justsouth of Goodman Creek, a rugged 15 or so mile backpacking trek thatgoes through what I think is the best sea-stack terrain in thecountry. Much of the area is accessible only at low tides and I foundmyself backpacking at night from time to time to safely cross certainheadlands. This one is suffering from the small size, as there are actuallyseveral Starfish visible throughout the rocks to the lower left. Thanks for any thoughts you may have. Link to comment
daverave 1 Posted February 5, 2011 "This one is suffering from the small size." Well then just post them larger ;-)Superb shot with believable lighting particularly the sun and rays. I might be tempted to lose just a bit of the foreground but that might just be because I can't see a lot of the fine detail due to the size of the image. Link to comment
cmouli 0 Posted February 5, 2011 Well, I really wish I could see larger to view all the Sea Stars! Wonderful to see the spot light shining on the one large "Star". Did you use a gradient filter? Could have been a challenging exposure otherwise. It is superb shot. The clouds in the sky is interesting - I cannot help wonder if you had even better lighting soon after sunset? Link to comment
lalit 0 Posted February 5, 2011 Terrific composition esp. when it relates to positioning the sea stack, the Sun and the flow of water. There might be interesting light in the upper sky but that would take away the opportunity to capture the Sun star and the light on the foreground rocks. I would also have liked the sea-star closer and bigger to balance the glory on the top part of the frame, but sometimes that's how it is. The foreground at the bottom of the frame is certainly does not look very sharp, I wonder that;s what you mean by the small size issues..softening. otherwise image is fantastic.I have one question though, How is your expereince in printing images like these with some overexposed areas at the Sun?Best,+Lalit Link to comment

esteve 0 Posted February 10, 2011 Congrats for a very good shot. Nice colours, great exposure and nice comp. Maybe the island is too centered, but I'm sure that you took a good compromise there.Regards,Esteve Link to comment
