markskelly 0 Posted April 23, 2003 Really nice. the mirroring makes her look enclosed in a room to me. Link to comment
jean_schweitzer 0 Posted April 24, 2003 Thank you for your opinion, this aprt might be distracting, but I like to make it more clear she hsa flowers in the hand. Jean Link to comment
stefanovandelli 0 Posted April 24, 2003 I tried the cropping and I cannot really make my mind up about which is better. In the cropped version it becomes more obvious that the top part of the background is a mirror of the bottom and once you notice that you cannot ignore it, not even in the other version. You have caught a great moment. Was it really necessary to modify the background? Regards, SV Link to comment
jimmcnitt 0 Posted April 24, 2003 Nope. I wouldn't. The green helps orient the viewer, which is especially important with the reflected background. Great job! Link to comment
dougityb 0 Posted April 24, 2003 I would certainly crop it out, myself. Flowers? Even after your reference to flowers, i still have trouble seeing them, and I don't think the corner in question is helping with making them more visible. Orients the viewer? I disagree with the need for being oriented, although the statement might be true. Where there was sky, there are now puddles, so the intent seems to be to disorient, therefore nulling the need to provide an orientation. I think the corner contributes negatively to the simple purity of everything else about the image. The monotony of the repeating shapes of the puddle is absolutely shattered by the figure of the child, which is instantly recognizable and completely energizing. Crop it. Link to comment
alfredo_matacotta 0 Posted April 25, 2003 I think that it is a fantastic shot. Full of life, surrealistic and intriguing Link to comment
eric_fredine 0 Posted April 25, 2003 I really like the effect created here. Of course there is the surreal feeling but it also lets me 'study' the beauty of the puddles (their shapes, repetition, colour) without the reflections which I find intriguing. I think I'm in favour of cropping the flowers. I think it works ok both ways, but I prefer the more abstract feeling it has without the flowers. Link to comment
