A very quick 3 mile Cross Country ski trip got me to Redfish Lake, in

the Sawtooth mountains of Idaho, just in time for sunrise. Some pools

of Ice and snow in the outlet called Redfish Creek gave some fun

elements to play with. One thing I will add is that this is a 3

exposure HDR

Hey Charles, this is stunning! An excellent composition already, but the timing and the conditions are tremendous! Really good work and congrats on your effort. I'm curious; what type of HDR process do you use? Hand blend or a pluggin? Everything looks good, but I would love to see detail in the far side tree covered hills. As they are, almost total black, offers deep contrast, but not an HDR appearance. Did you also use a grad? Not very important, just an observation. Very lovely work!

This is a great example of well controlled HDR. Wonderful tones and depth. Hope your well my friend. All my best, Jim.

Thank you all for the kind words of encouragement.

Mark Geistweite, to answer your question on HDR post processing. I generally expose 3 shots at 1.5 increments. I use Photomatix and the HDR set up. For the first HDR of a trip I spend a lot of time trying to dial it in just right trying to get the full range of tones and "NO" halos. Then I same it as a preset for that trip. This then becomes the starting point for the other HDRs from that trip.
