This lovely and very sweet cat is Cali; she used to live next door but adopted us and then her owner just moved away and left her...She is a beautiful and very sweet cat who prefers to be outdoors in our backyard where she can chase squirrels and warm in the sun. Wow, what a beautiful cat and cat portrait, very classical.  I'm amused at what appears to be a black crow skulking in the background ;-)... Mike

Thank you for the kind words; I didn't even noticed the black "crow", which are just leaves either from the orange tree or the climbing antique rose bush growing in that spot behind her...That is pretty amusing now, especially since she loves to chase the squirrels and is often the subject of bullying by a blue jay in my yard. I am glad you like this photo and took the time to let me know your thoughts; always good to hear from you. :)

Im sure she's a loveable cat but this picture could be used by mouse mothers to frighten their mouse children into being good.

JACK - Lol! Yes, that may be but I bet they are thinking what a magnificently beautiful pair of eyes she has when they are face to face. Maybe that is the cat's secret weapon when hunting - their prey is mesmerized by their beauty and unable to get away! :)

KEITH - Mr. Jelly has a lot of competition at my home with all of my cats, but not to fear...all cats are beautiful and fascinating in my eyes and there is plenty of room to love them all! :)

I really like this, Trisha.  It's so well balanced compositionally, and love the intense stare.

The 2nd thing I noticed was the black crow in the background and then I started to search the image for similar shapes. I was back to the cat which has a beautiful pattern in the facial features. I like the clarity and the light. A beautiful image indeed!

Thank you so much for your kind words and encouragement; I realize alot of people just roll their eyes and think to themselves Oh another cat pic but I love animals and enjoy them so much so I will never tire of trying to capture their moods, personalities, or beauty. You have both commented on Cali's eye contact; she does make great eye contact with me when I am photographing her...I think she is just really interested in my camera! She does though always have an intense look about her and when I am sitting at my desk and turn to look out the window at her she just locks eyes with me from far away.
