PeterKrenek 26 Posted January 22, 2011 Brendan, this is excellent. The moment of exposure is perfectly chosen, you certainly spent some time there, waiting for the proper balance between the natural and artificial light. Exposure blend or a single frame ? Link to comment

brendan_trewartha 0 Posted January 22, 2011 Thanks Everyone for the feedback.Peter, I took over 20 photos this morning however this was the first. It was almost completely dark with the moon behind for some natural light. The clouds were red to start with then lost thier color, turning red again as the sun came up.To achieve this result I metered for the highlights in the sky and exposed for 2 stops under; I took a 2nd exposure using an incident light reading for the foreground. The result is the 2 exposures blended together. You could get a similar result with a 4 STOP Grad ND filter tilted down on one side however I find this often costs you detail where part of the foreground is above the line of the filter. One advantage of using filters is the blur in clouds from a long exposure however this morning I liked the shape of the clouds that resulted from a 60sec exposure. Link to comment

vbirke 0 Posted January 23, 2011 This image reveals a fantastic scenery which overwhelmes the viewer with its highly magical aura. What a powerful stillness. A man made - tiny - artefact inside the almighty nature, space and time... A classic topic - presented in a very innovative and absolutely appealing manner. The main element / feature of this highly creative and aesthetic composition is represented by the contrast of the lighthouse (and its reflection) and the great seascape and the rocky cliffs. Everything is packed into an absolutely stunning view and perspective, especially enhanced by the awesome editing and the great colors and lights which are so beautifully and therefore so harmonically composed.A meditative masterpeace. Bravo!Bw, Volker Link to comment
