Jacques-Cartier Exit

photocontrast

The original picture was in color. I add: "very bad colors". So I changed it to B&W in Photoshop. "Levels" to balance contrast. "Unsharpen mask" & curves for more sharpness. And some burning and dodging. Since I wasn't still too satisfied, I created a new layer with a copy of the image and played more with the features above to some areas in the picture (expecially the sky). After I've flatten the layers, I added some "film grain" to it... Et voilà!

There is something very haunting in this black and white photograph, which is something I love to see in blacka and white photography. Excellent composition and ranges of tones along with contrast. Good work.

Wonderful b&w shot. My only thought is that it might be worth losing 1/2 of the foreground which adds little to the shot. But still great!

i am drawn to this photo more because of the subject matter...i am wondering why one have to shove a building below the highway, which one came first - the highway or the building, or were they being built at the same time.

I have a taste for architectural photos that have a monumental feel, which is why I like this one. The sweep of the roadway into the building and the low angle are what makes this composition. I agree with the comment that a little too much foreground is showing. Removing the barrel distortion wouldn't hurt either.

This reminds me of a SF story I once read, of a city surrounded by a world-spanning desert. In your photo we see the city edge and the road flying out then veering away from the emptiness and back into the comfort of the city. Your angle and composition is perfect for that, that is what I love most about the shot.
