West Pier Brighton, Good Friday 2003.
Brighton's west Pier was built in 1866, but has been more-or-less derelict since the 1970's. In December 2002 the ballroom part collapsed into the sea, and in March 2003 fire destroyed the Pavilion which stood at the seaward end. The Good Friday holiday brought the crowds to Brighton beach, and I wanted to get the effect of one of those pre-war panoramas that showed the crowds. The picture is made from 5 digital pictures stitched together using MGI photovista, and tidied up and toned in Paintshop pro.
