steve_wagner1 1 Posted February 6, 2011 I guess I'll dissent and say that without the heavy vignetting and tint it's a fine portrait but not a terribly interesting photo. It's a static composition and just doesn't have any emotional impact as an image. It's a fine image though. I like the thin dof and the way it hits the text just right. Link to comment
dara 0 Posted February 6, 2011 Reading....The subject has much concentration on his newspaper, that is shown so well, as well, as the lighting and coloursl....Well done with such elaborate selective focusing to draw attention on your subject. Good work Mehmemet and congatulations! Regards Darap.s. Thanks Elvis Link to comment

mgoksoy 0 Posted March 15, 2011 This is a photo which can never be as meaningful to the people of the world as someone who is familiar with the Turkish culture. The photo is firstly superior technically IMO. Secondly, it also reminds one of the elderly people living in Turkish villages who have had little education and can hardly read and write but still much interested in the happenings in Turkey and the world through newspapers. They read the newspapers very slowly, in syllabels, sometimes loud so that the others, some of which are illeterate, also learn. BTW," korkutamaz" means "they cannot scare us." Very simple but very meaningful photo which made me very envious. Congratulations Mehmet. Link to comment

ananda_chaudhuri 0 Posted March 17, 2011 This is a very nice portrait, the detail is great and mood is nice too. The tone is bluish grey but this is not a sad picture so I would look to warm up the tones a bit. If possible I would taken the shot slightly more from the front and that would have helped to position the head a bit off center and would have shown more details of the mans intense concentration Link to comment
photographypanoptikon 0 Posted January 5, 2012 Excellent composition and lighting. Your placement puts the viewer right across the table from the old man. Link to comment
