kahkityoong 0 Posted January 6, 2011 Excerpt from my latest blog entry. “Autumn Showers” was the last exposure I made before leaving Glencoe. Several days earlier I had noted the potential for a photo while exploring the area. I liked the small reddish pebbles and the clear greenish water flowing over them. However, the light on the peak was not satisfactory on that day. Nor on another occasion when I returned to try my luck again. As I was about to leave the highlands, I noticed the sun threatening to break through a small opening in the sky. After an hour getting drenched by showers, the sun did briefly make an appearance but not in the way I had expected. It weakly illuminated a shower passing through the peak rather than the strong spotlighting I had hoped for. In hindsight, it perfectly captured the Glencoe that I experienced. Link to comment
viviblu 0 Posted January 6, 2011 It was definitely worth waiting! The shot is just perfect. The green, clear cascade in the foreground, and moody mountain covered by fog in the background. And amazing red trees and grass in between. I love it. Link to comment

papasan 0 Posted January 6, 2011 Beautiful image KK, exquisitely composed. I love the layering of colors, the greenish water, the dark grey stones, the brighter red vegetation, and the blue of the clouds/fog. I also find it quite interesting that your foreground element, the stream, is flowing parallel to the frame. This would normally go against the principle of leading lines, in this case it creates the basis for the layering i mentioned above and it is this layering that draws the eye further and further into the frame. Excellent shot, well worth the wait. Regards always - michel Link to comment
kahkityoong 0 Posted January 6, 2011 Thanks Michel, this composition was built in layers as you say. Layered compositions are common enough in landscapes but you don't often see a river used as such which makes this somewhat unusual IMO. Link to comment
joscelyn_sylvester 0 Posted September 13, 2012 I really love the mood of this image: colorful but restrained. While the stream is very attractive, I find that lightness of color attracts my eyes. If it was 'darker' it would probably from a compositional 'balance', fit more into the overall mood. I am thinking that using a circular polarizer may have made that part appear darker. Just one tiny opinion. Just see that you have an expensive Circ. Polarizer which you probably used. Link to comment
