I follow the advice of the critiquers and brightened this one up a

bit. I also added the frame to give some dark contrast.

So what do you think now?

...teach me how to do borders like that sometime... :-)

I didn't see the original, but I saw this one. I know what I like and I like this image. The lip in the coastline braks the geometry nicely and adds a lot of dynamics. The curve of the coast is almost matched by the waves.

There are things that are not perfect. What is that stray light in the lower left corner? The upper left sky is unfortunately bland. More within your control, the weeds in the foreground could probably do with a boost to the contrast.

But it's a very nice picture. With careful printing it is certainly one I'd be proud to have hanging over my bed.

I looked in your portfolio to see the darker version. The lighter one is much nicer! It has a much better feel to it. If I were shooting it I would have tried to get the sun out of the dead center of the shot while still incorporating the nice "S" curve of the waters edge. I would tend to disagree with Allen in that I like the grasses in the foreground as a subtle element in the photo. It is a nice shot!

The one thing that strikes me is that the horizon is not level. Other than that, it is better than the previous one :).

well here I am checking out your fraser moonlight photo. It's quite amazing how low can the moon went, just like a sunrise/sunset. I am not sure what others said about the darker version of this picture, but if that's what you do (curve up in photoshop), most likely the photo will turn grainy. but then again, grains can be a good thing. cheers.
