Deep Winter

ian cameron

Loch An Eilein, Cairngorm, ScotlandDeep unblemished snow lying dimpled over tree roots and rocks picks up the barest hint of soft ambient light as it filters through a light overcast sky on a fabulous winter morning across Loch An Eilein to the castle ruin. This end of the loch is next to the river that flows out so this small section alone is unfrozen which fortuitously provided some reflections of the delicate sky colours.Pentax 67 II ,90-180 zoom,Fujichrome Velvia0.3ND grad, f/22 at 1 second.

This is just amazing. I can feel the fresh cold air blowing from the photo. The sky looks also very good, and luckily it has some clouds on it, so it is not boring. I wish I could see some of of the lef side (and more use of the perfectly reflecting frozen water).

Ian:  I love the composition and the quiet winter feeling.  The stillness!  I would prefer just a wee bit more exposure.  Nice shot.  Alan.
