Guest Guest Posted January 2, 2011 Your direct engagement with this man is obvious in his expression, and it accounts for most of the strength of this image. I think you might accomplish even more with much-less-interesting-looking people...might be more challenging to photograph some businesswoman or elderly middle-class neighbor. Of course, their skin and hair might not be as photogenic as that of street people. The short depth-of-field works especially well here, and I'm not bothered by the out-of-focus ash or nose.
