I appreciate the experimentation, and I think this would be a good addition to the abstract forum.  I have a hard time seeing or understanding it as a landscape photo - without you telling me, I wouldn't know what it is (which in fact might be a good definition of an abstract photo).

A thoughtful comment, perhaps you're right although such was not my intent. My intent was more to single out the geometric elements and the dynamic features of light and water that make-up the photo. Abstracting i suppose from the same shot at another time and with a different style/approach. My intent was not to lose those features of sea as cut through boldly by the man-made structure. I admit to nudging abstractions from conventional landscapes but in this case not with the intention of rendering an abstract. I would guess that my familiarity with the subject skews my perception of what someone else would see at first glance.

i do declare more than a little trouble making use of categories and can see a certain value of a photo that does not neatly fit a category .

You are a photographer to be admired and on your pages I see an intuitive grasp of geometry in landscape-' silver trails'- which does not immediately announce itself for what it is; 'second beach sunset', which I daresay abstracts those stupendous shore rocks into a wonderful aesthetic composition. Not a total abstract but enough so as to distinguish the photo.

my compliments to you ...

michael
