very nice portrait, with lots of character. I like his expression and your composition. I think there are a few areas that are a bit blown and lack details, in the beard for instance. I would be tempted to try a more contrasty version to bring out his character a little more (see my suggestion, not better just different than yours).  Regards - michel

Thank you for the kind comment , Michel, and the trouble you went into, by working on this one. The suggested more contrasty presentation has been tried already  and this final ,milder one, was opted as doing more justice to the  gentle, kind and noble character of the gentleman depicted.  Respectful regards, season wishes .

i like a lot this portrait, and i agree with your choise about treatment. the little front focus, that bring first the beard at our eyes, and the degrading dof where eyes are underlined, is original and works very well for an evocative portrait

A splendid piece of work Chris, with the guy's expression and his glance suiting the whole scene very well. Your p/p work is also most excellent...Regards

Chris I love the lighthearted, knowing expression of his face and you do it much justice. The light on his beard and face are wonderful. There is just enough detail on the hat.

Excellent, Chris. The image really emphasizes the photogenic features. Very effective lighting and use of grey scale. Compliments!

Best wishes for the holidays and for prosperity throughout the coming year. Regards - El
