From my very modest point of view, it is a very good photo!. The idea of plugging the sun light in to the iced branches it seems to me a very good idea. It looks like the lighted tree. On the other hand compensating the light to have not blurry areas neither black ones apart from the tree shape is not very easy, at least for me!

Hi Mary...I'm jealous...I like to take tree shots, and have asked for critiques, but I never had 10,000 people view and have lots of pretty good ratings...I really like this shot...I appreciate what a lot of the folks who responded wrote about technique, filters, etc...however, when you get right down to it, the image moves you or it doesn't...this image moves me. Thanks for sharing!

Yes, it's a quite intriguing photo. It's been commented so much that quite all have been said already. In short, to improve ratings, I would post it larger with lower jpg compression, because details here are crucial (and here are lost), and crop it somewhat differently such that the sun is off center.

I would have thought that this is moonlight. :) I love this emotion. ...and not everyone here is showing that they are better than... well, it does not matter - what does is: it has heart and soul in it, and that is the main thing. That what I consider as important! Photo is not always about perfect technical deatils but emotion, that fraction of time that shows you world in the new light. This does it. Your photos do it in many cases. And I admire that. That is more than most peaople see. But this feeling is something that opens your eyes to new ways of looking at this Beautiful Universe!
