The colors are fine.  Careful use of a polarizer will help accentuate the color, but overuse of that filter will make the rainbow vanish, so easy does it.  Beyond that, it's a matter of finding the surrounding composition that you like.  Some folks will do a relative close-up, as you have done, while others will do a half-arch or full-arch if one is present.  It's really a matter of good fortune to be in the right place at the right time.
