A moment along the grand canal. I would appreciate comments and

I like the mood of this shot. The vrious light concentrations work well for me. The characters do nail it.

Thanks Saffir for taking time to critique.  I will explore GuruShots.  Perhaps my play with light was a little heavy handed - I am not sure yet.

Thanks McCracken and Pierre.  The figures/characters were a discovery and motivated the processing of this image.  I am intrigued with expected and unexpected light placement to create drama and a little bit of the unreal within the real.  Sometimes it works.  Sometimes it doesn't.

How did you do this I like the technique?

Thanks Catherine, Patsy and Marlene.  Catherine, I think we may see similarly.  Your work reminds me of what I try to do.  You nailed it, Patsy – a play with light and dark.  Catherine, I am creating a solid color (black) adjustment layer in PS and “painting” the areas I wish to make more prominent.  When it works, an image can appear to have an inner glow from this play of light against dark. 

An excellent night mood, Wayne...the technique you used is way better than dodging and burning, in the sense that the light and shadows are both balance in tonality.
