I recall reading of Palmyra in my Bible, and have done a little reading on it a while ago.  This photo is much more impressive that what I viewed on the website I visited, as I recall.  The light is 'key' here I think.  I love History, and especially anything 'ancient' that has so much ot offer in it's 'telling'.  It never ceases to amaze me that such ancient structures still stand, for us to take wonder in; we are fortunate these days that they still stand.  I do hope this place reamains standing for many more years.  I would love to see it for myself.
