waynemorgan 0 Posted April 13, 2003 1/2 second is maximum exposure for the camera I use. This train comes through my little town about 1:30 to 2:00 am every night, traveling about 80 mph. I tried this once before but didn't get all the crossing and I was not happy with it. I like this one better than the first one Link to comment
peterneibert 0 Posted April 14, 2003 Looks to me like the train has overtaken it's own headlights. This one comes together right: the angle of the train's headlights ascending toward the right, the darkness across the top of the frame and the automobile headlights on the pavement at lower left -- black, white, red and yellow. Very dramatic. What time did you go to sleep after this? Link to comment
michael_ward1 0 Posted April 14, 2003 This was caught just perfectly. The dark colors give the feeling that it's late night. The blur of the train going past, and the way it looks like both the engine and the cars are all there at once make for a real jewel. Link to comment
jim schwaiger 0 Posted April 14, 2003 The effect is cool, but maybe a bit bright. The histograms were pretty odd looking, I just adjusted the black points for each channel individually. Auto-Levels doesn't work at all as there is nothing at the high end of the green and blue channels. Link to comment
waynemorgan 0 Posted April 14, 2003 I work second shift (2:30 - 11:00 pm). It is very rare that I get to bed before 2:00 am. Many times it is 3 to 4 before I get to bed. Thanks for your comments on this so far. Link to comment
fred_j._lord 0 Posted April 15, 2003 Wayne: It's starting to melt out up here. Are you coming out for spring? This is a nice creative idea. You could have taken some of the other images and combined them in the computer to see what happened. Since it goes by so fast you could go back two or three nights in a row and take different angles from the same spot and make a panorama. I like the car headlights shining on the train from the left. Is there another vehicle on the other side? I guess not or I'd be seeing headlights from that direction as well. Link to comment
lisa_m._holley 0 Posted April 15, 2003 Wayne, I think you did a great job capturing this shot. I agree with all previous comments, especially the coloring. And I have to admit, seeing the car headlights to the left is pretty cool. I really like the effect of this shot. I hope I can get one of these real soon. I hope you got some sleep after this. LOL!
