Tatjana,

I got a new underwater flash last winter and I am still working out how to best use it. At depth you need to get close to the subject and the colour falls off fast outside of the flash's range.  Ideally you want a good  exposure on the subject and still have some nice colour in the background.... so far I am just happy to get the sea critters exposed and in focus. Squids can change colours rapidly. I think green means that the squid is relaxed. Flashing red and black mean not too happy :-(

Nice to learn something while  looking at this amazing creature ! I guess you have a lot of enjoyment down there :) Where you dive ?

Did you get a color capture AFTER the flash went off?  He does look a bit sleepy.  It's interesting how even these incredibly odd pictures retain the capacity for personification.  I can almost imagine him in a recliner drinking some sorta cheap beer talking crap about this team or that.

Good God! It's the Creature From the Black Lagoon! Seriously, Gordon, you hang out with the wierdest things. They must give you an exclusive on all their publicity. Well they should; this picture's a beauty

Beautiful color combination of greens and blues, and a great overall capture --  makes me relaxed too, just by looking at this on my screen. Must have been a great experience capturing underwater life, one that I would like to try as well, one day.

Does this creature have a personality or what! The orange part, by the way, lights up the image like magic.
