I love the Owens Valley side of the Sierra. The sky-mountain juncture here is fine. I find the orange of the foreground a bit overpowering for some reason. Nice, but... a bit over the top. I think the camera is tilted up as well. The perspective is alterd by this. A horizontal image would be more natural.  Regards.

I think the trees have too much contrast. The dark areas in the foreground are not holding detail. I am still experimenting with this technique.

As far as the camera pointed up . . . I don't think so. This was taken with my Nikon 70 - 200 2.8 VR Lens @ 170 mm. We were on the side of the highway pointing pretty close to level across a small valley. One of the things I like about this image is how the longer focal length compresses the trees and the background mountains..

I like hearing what people think in an open forum like Photo.net. It really tells me if the image grabs the eye . . . or not. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
