After the Rain

I am currently a photography student and am trying to develop my eye,

This is the first photo I have put up for critique. Any comments on

color, contrast, composition would be appreciated. Also category

suggestions as I have no idea what this type of shot would be

considered. Thanks.

I like the composition (tho the upper left black corner is somewhat distracting) and in general find the image quite satisfying and technically well handled.

I'd call it an abstract, tho I suppose an argument could be made for it being a portrait of a leaf. You did a nice job of balancing the exposure between the reflection and the leaf.

Thanks for the critique. The dark, upper left corner is actually the curb on the sidewalk. I was hoping that the angle of the curb would add balance to the leaf, but it does distract you from the subject. May have to try lightening that area so it does not have as much contrast or try a more dramatic crop.
