Gail:  Thank you so much for the story that goes with this picture.  We have many examples like your Thelma and her husband Roy, couples that have found love and learned to live long happy lives with adversity.  We truly need to be thankful our servicemen, they help to keep us free. You are luck to have met Thelma.   Tom

I was just thinking about you the other nite while trying to organize my photos to do a major 'back up'.........realized I'd not dropped over for quite a bit...I am sorry...my mind is in 'many places' these days.  But I appreciate your comments on the story.

When we entered the house, and this is one thing I noticed and had forgot to put in the Story.  When we go to sell our homes the Real Estate Agents want us to put so many things away...dePersonalize it....I suppose many can not see a home with other's things about...but it is these things that gives me a feel for a home.

Thelma had her walls decorated with her husbands' many medals and War Decorations.  I was just fascinated.  The room I use for my Office is the one they both spent their time in enjoying communicating in 'Morse Code'.  Thelma and even one or two of their children took the Course also.  We have a huge old Elm tree in our backyard and we are on one of the highest spots in town, and Roy had his antenna reaching far out to the Elm tree.  It empressed me so much that she enjoyed this with her husband. The home was welcoming, and it felt 'lived in'....knowing that this would be a difficult move for her, as not too many people choose to build a Custom home at the age of 70, I found a way to meet her after we had purchased the home...and wrote to her of how I felt.

She stook on the front porch and a few tears started to run down her cheeks....she said it sure was going to be a 'hard move', and the only reason she was moving was because she couldn't manage the stairs down to the Family Room in the Basement any more.  Just too much house for her.  But the loss of her husband was still 'fresh' in her 'eyes'...and thankfully she was relocating to a Condo where friends were near by.  What a life Roy must have lived...and he lived it to the fullest despite his 'loss of sight'...and they had a family and enjoyed each other's company so much.  A rare thing indeed ....at least in today's world. She and Roy were a bit of an inspiration to me, and I assured her that we would take very good care of the home they chose and loved so much.  I'll drop by real soon Tom and thankyou for those kind words, sincerely, Gail

The fact that I'm at the bottom of the list doesn't bother me at all!

My first reaction in seeing this image is to think of the conclusion of a beautiful, yet profoundly sad, film - "Pay It Forward."  With this photograph, you have done exactly that. It is now up to the rest of us to do the same - to share with the rest of the world.

This photograph has some amazing elements - - striking colors, interesting interplay of shapes, and fantastic composition.  Awesome work, Gail.

Beautiful intricate work Gail. Michael's comment on paying it forward is very apt you have paid a tribute to those hero's that we do not remember often enough.

I read "In Flanders Fields" every Remembrance day and the phrase "to you we pass the torch, be yours to hold it high" , to me, is embodied in your words.

We will never forget.

Well done.

All my best,  Bill
