As opposed to copying existing photographs onto Polaroid film this silly little thing is anoriginal image. It was shot in the studio on a Sinar X with a Polaroidback using Polaroid type 59 4X5 film.

I have rated only a few but almost all of your Polaroid transfer photos deserve a 6 to 7 rating for the delicacy, balance and subtleties of composition. Thanks for sharing this series !

hi Bob

I ran across this one when looking through Sunny Kohn's top rated list. Its lovely. The light shining in the window to display the flower is compositionally de rigueur (there was some mention of the French above, so I thought I would try and follow the lead. :))

I like the wide matting also. But I think it depends on the photo. I have a print of "God Judging Adam", by William Blake W B The dark lines in the painting just call out for lines in the matting, and that is the way the framing shop did it for me -- a black line and a gold line on the white matting. Looks super.

We don't have much visibility for our critique only forum that you and others have pioneered. As it exists the critiques seem to be polarized into groups, anyway. There was a mention by Brian M. in a forum recently that he is thinking of re-making something like the old circles for critiquers. (that's not French, just a mis-use of the English word, maybe.)

We do have a new and interesting critique forum. We can mark our photos for critique only and have them go through that forum. But there is still no visibility for the good critiques -- the kind that I used to read on your, and a few others, photo pages. Maybe when the new circles get going again there might be a way to have critiques receive there just due.

Would be nice to see what you have been doing recently, and to see your sense of humor appearing here again.

Hi M!

You are very kind. It's true, I haven't been around very much lately. The main reason is that I've been so busy that by the time I get home I need to get away from the computer.

I do miss this place, and your post reminds my that there are some very nice folks around here. Thanks for the very thoughtful post, I truly appreciate it.

Bob.

What brought you back here, huh? Let me guess: Tim's POW maybe...:-) I'd have loved to read your opinion about it, since you know this place so well... Cheers.
