Rose

bob_pictaker

As opposed to copying existing photographs onto Polaroid film this silly little thing is anoriginal image. It was shot in the studio on a Sinar X with a Polaroidback using Polaroid type 59 4X5 film.

These "silly little things" are most impressionable. Very beautiful works of art, thanks for sharing. I'd like to have this one on my wall.

A more traditional composition than the other one in your folder with the two daisies. Still, an extremely pleasing image.

Simple, subtle and rather beautiful. Aesthetically I think I might prefer a more graceful small vase to complement the rose, but emotionally the bottle works well to highlight its uprooting into an alien environment. In any event, the flower is upstaged by the beautiful light.

Nice grain. Nice use of shadows to direct the eye. Nice use of color as central point of interest.

on this, and the daisies, I think the vast amount of white surrounding the image, i.e., the frame border, is damaging to the delicacies of the tones, colors and shades of light. I found the image stood out better, still possessing all its fine qualities, when it had a thin white border followed by a larger darker brown border. The thin white holds the polaroid peel artifacts, and then the brown keeps the colors from washing out, and prevents the eye from being overexposed, so to speak. This of course doesn't change the fact that the images are excellent, but might make the presentation more effective.

Hi Doug - Thanks for dropping by. I think my framing decisions reflect how I naturally like to display these images on a wall. In fact I use very large mattes. Much larger even that what I've done here. Really just a personal preference, that's all. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

OH! But what if you're wrong!

Ha, just kidding. What do I know about color? I'll leave the rights and wrongs of aesthetics to the frenchman. Meanwhile, your wall must look awesome.

Great work.

Yet another artwork to lock away in the brain, and gain future inspiration from. Thank you for sharing this set.

Gee - If I give high ratings to images I think deserve them, even if from the same photographer, does that mean the a/n will come after me? Hope not. Because this work is truly beautiful. Are they all shot with large format? (Sorry, haven't had time to dig deeply into your technical stuff yet. Promise I'll look it up later when I have time.) For now, though - suffice it to say, these images of flowers are NOT "just another flower picture"!!!

Thanks Anna!

I get that feeling of solitude from it also at times. Other times it's more peaceful and calming, and sometimes it's loneliness! It depends on my mood.

Hard to rate this folder using the full range of the scale. This one is at extremity of the spectrum... and congrats for POW, your talent deserved it.
