I took this shot of bettle foot prints in Bruneau Sand Dunes, in Idaho recently. Darkling bettles wander around in the dunes early morning and in this particular shot, two of them seem to have crossed each other ... their "foot prints in the sands of time" that day.

An excellent, and original, image Chandra! Love the abstract nature of this, and though the image is highly sharpened, the effect serves to enhance the image. Outstanding work!

All the best,
Neil

Neil,  Thanks for your comments.  I took this shot early morning - sun was up but was still casting long shadows.  This part of the dunes was not brightly lit - which was good to avoid harsh light.  I used a rock steady tripod (which is always tricky in lose sand) - I typically use old plastic yoghurt cans under the tripod legs in those situations to provide further stability.  My 105mm Nikkor macro lens is incredibly sharp, if used at the right aperture.  You are correct that this photo looks over sharpened - but to begin with, it was sharp enough to pick individual sand grains, particularly in the foreground! :-)

When I did the final conversion to JPEG and reduced image size, I typically apply sharpen filter once.

Hope this explains. Thanks again for your comments.
