hess 0 Posted November 1, 2010 There is something about his image that fascinates me. Maybe it is the interplay of blur and sharpness, light and shadow, archway and staircase. The toning is great. I wonder if it would be even better if you had the archways completely centered, giving you some kind of fixed point in this capture dominated by contrasts (see above).Best regards,Alex Link to comment
yann1 0 Posted November 2, 2010 I wonder if you used Picasa for the blur: There is like a spot that is sharp with blur all around. It's an interesting picture, but I'd have played with the light instead of blur. Link to comment
jana 1 Posted November 2, 2010 Lensbaby? Wonderful image ! cheers Janap.s. You might want to balance it to harmony by cropping the right part a bit. Link to comment
AlanKlein 2,917 Posted January 10, 2011 Jeff: I've walked that spot many times in CP. Great effect. I agree with the others about centering although it could be that no people on the right adds a heavier balance to the left also. Interesting focus. How did you do that? Alan. Link to comment
jeffwatts 0 Posted April 16, 2011 Alan - this was a digital color shot converted to b and w and then toned. I then added the soft focus with a clear portion in the center of the shot. The non-centering of the archways is intentional as I normally find symmetrical aspects a it less interesting. Thanks for the comments on this shot. It seems to strike a chord with many viewers. trisha jean-angela 5 Posted August 7, 2011 Beautiful shot! I love the blurring effect and I like the cropping; to me, it does seem balanced because the people are heavy on the left side and so visually you have balanced the heaviness with leaving in the arch on the right. Wonderful image and very well done. Thank you for sharing. :) Link to comment
