I like this one, it is a very nice light and sweet bird composition (looks like Dror;-)) I still think that it will enhance composition, if you will crop some of the LHS(less significant) and upper part, in order  to bring the bird closer. I tried it ,and as we learn all the time, I upload it to show you what I did. I would like to know what do you think.

works well too. Indeed the bird gets closer and the shape of orange sky rhymes with the shape of the bird. The only aspect that for me at least is not optimal is the crop of the bush. I kind of liked it's rounded form and once I decided to keep it, then the height of the sky required kind of followed.

Above is a tight crop that I made thinking a bit more on the subject. How does this look to you?

Thanks for taking time to do these exercises, I find them both helpful and pleasant. As for the bird, it is probably a flycatcher (חטפית), certainly not a sparrow. You can see why it is called so in my next post.

Best Regards, Tibi

Thanks for your answer ,the flycatcher example (interesting and a funny name that I did not know about)... and your point of view.

Usually I like the square format and use it quite a lot in my work ,but this time I think the better format (and choice) is the landscape form, and why?

Some reasons and I will explain. The bird is the center of this photo   and therefor the most important element in composition. Important but second is the bush she is standing on (and therefor no harm caused by cropping part of it ,to better the whole). And third and important ! is the upper dark part as an 'answer" to the  lower dark and RHS parts .More so is the diagonal line of light ( and color palette) ) that was lost in the square format. The bird which is  central but also too centered in the square. In the landscape form the bird is better staged on the frame Imo. All those reasons made me crop it the way I did . I tried  to explain and I hope you will accept my reasons (or not....;-))

beautiful, beautiful and the whole comment exchange is very interesting. Dror (not the bird. of course).....

really like the bird in motion.

I am glad you like this, Dror. These shots were one of my first attempts to use a new lens. As for the exchange, it is not often to be lucky and get into such a neat one.

Regards, Tibi
