rsalguero 0 Posted April 10, 2003 Stefan, thanks very much for your comments. In both Spain and South America these "Klu Klux Klan" type of outfits are quite old and traditional. They are used primarily in conjunction with Christian ritual processions. I understand the hood was worn as a symbol of humility and anonymity. In this picture, heavy crosses are being carried as a sort of penance. By not showing your face you are doing this for the "Glory of God" and not for the personal recognition of others.
