luc_plaetinck 0 Posted March 29, 2001 Tried different prints, varying from light to dark. Settled on this one. Link to comment
kevin_kolosky 2 Posted March 29, 2001 not bad as a pictorial subject. However, you have lost alot of detail in the leaves and in the grasses. if there is detail in the negative in those areas try and burn them in a little bit so they don't look so white and without detail. Otherwise very nice. Kevin Link to comment
luc_plaetinck 0 Posted March 29, 2001 Blame the loss of detail on the scanner. In the 8X10 I can count every little grass speck and leaf (if I wanted too). I suspect that the (old) HP scanjet IIcx doesn't have a high D rating, and converting the scan from 8X10 @300dpi to something like 350X550 pixels doesn't do much good either. If anyone knows about techniques or books that describe how to get better scans, please let me know. Thanks. Link to comment
miguel_azar 0 Posted April 3, 2001 Luc: Being a poor scan leaves me in apprehension to comment. The way you have it the trees glow, but the loss of detail hurts. If you add more contrast you may lose the detail you claim you have on the print. I like the advice to try dodging, but then you would lose the glowing tree. Maybe, dodge the tree so you loose the detail, making it glow, and have the rest of the photo with the detail. You have something fun to work with. Link to comment
