crits about comp and colour(lack of it)?

I think the composition is quite good.  I suspect you have versions where the sky takes up 2/3 of the frame vs. the foreground (since both are interesting and could dominate the photo), but I think the foreground is more visually compelling and as such is the better choice for taking up the majority of the frame.  The clouds do add a foreboding drama, and the black and white tones are nice and rich.  

I like your image. The composition gives a lot of depht in the picture. But in my opinion you handle the scale of grey in such a way that the overall impression becomes rather grey.
