Let me hear you thoughts if the extra element of the roof increased the composition.

Putting the tower in an interesting frame was difficult due to its size.

Thanks

Arjen

The roof adds color and shape: but, it does not add to the overall subject. In fact it makes the shot disjoint or at best abstract. Focus on what this shot is to convey then compose it. Are you trying to capture the height of the object or maybe its solitude? Whatever you saw try to make the shot focus on that vision.

Hi Dave

Thanks for the comment. My aim of the picture was to make the tower more interesting and show it from a new perspective. I wanted to avoid the standard frontal shot with a very small tower surrounded by a lot of air.
This way I felt that the was more balance in the frame as well as a lower % of black air.
It maintains the sense of scale this way as well.

PLease let me know your thoughts.

Thanks

Arjen

Arjen, I find the addition of the roof to be appealing.  I would have cropped it more on the left though to remove the bottom-left area of distraction.  Might have been even better to compose the photo in a way that the point of the roof is aimed directly at the circular top of the tower.  Very nice photo though!
