Loch Na Stainge, Glencoe, ScotlandA cloud dappled sky below which fingers of golden light unstretch and caress the delicate frozen grasses at the edge of Loch Na Stainge. As the air clears and the clouds begin to clear a drop in temperature causes a thin skin of ice to develop. I watched it grow around the stems of grass and lazily spread out over the heavy still water. Blue and gold is one of my favourite combinations of complementary colours conveying both chill and warmth simultaneously. One of my favourite shots that I took last year.Please view LARGE.Pentax 67 II, 55-100 zoom, Fujichrome Velvia, 0.45ND grad, polariser backed off to around 50% strength, f/22 at 2 seconds.

high quality picture!

very refined light and tones, perfect exposure. your composition works well, but i would suggest to crop about 3 cm from the bottom of the image to get a 3:2 ratio, as i believe it fits better to the scene. but that is just an option. your photo is very good.

Hoping to be heading up on to the moor this weekend myself,just waiting for the first real snow fall.

Golden light or no, the light and color here have a very subtle feel:  gorgeous, even dramatic, but in an elusive way.  The cloud reflections are a wonderful element, too, and you've positioned the camera perfectly in order to keep the reflected piece of blue sky unbroken.
