acarodp 0 Posted October 9, 2010 Arhus museum of Art, Denmark. I'm not totally sure if I like this one,I find it somewhat unbalanced as a composition. I would have liked thewoman behind the curtain to be more on the left, and a bit lower...but perhaps I get too caught in my taste for geometrical composition.So... thank you for letting me know what you think of it! dara 0 Posted October 10, 2010 Complicated image...you already say what the problem is with your image, and explain it although in some ways wrong...Why, should I add to this...It becomes a bit more meaningful when you crop out the lady holding "Manfrotto" tripod case (good tripods) with red curtain as back ground .... Christal1664882414 0 Posted October 11, 2010 I understand your feelings on this image. I tried a few things with it and decided that IMO it works better by cropping more off the left side.....perhaps even a bit more than I've done. This will put the man's arms at the very edge of the frame, I realize. But what it also does is place the 2 woman so that they're each about 1/3 of the way into the frame. This works better for me from a balance perspective. Hope this helps. Overall, it's a great image. Link to comment
acarodp 0 Posted October 12, 2010 Thank you all, and, Christal, I would say your suggestion is quite good. I lately tend not to crop "freely", but to keep to some established format (4:3, 3:2, 1:1, or 16:9) as a sort of tiny exercise in self-discipline... but this looks like one case where I might make an exception. I like the statue's hand ending at the corner, and also your crop gets rid of good part of that out of focus chain that I find distracting. Ciao & thanks L. Link to comment
