Why do I like it better mirrored? The movement seems more natural and the picture has more dynamics in the mirrored version in my (very humble) opinion.

Thanks Ilan. A good point, well observed and one I had not figured for this picture. To answer with my equally humble opinion, I think it has something to do with the way a picture is read, and being western and reading therefore from left to right, the dynamics of a picture flow easier if they conform with that sense of direction. Here the main "tusk" tapers to a point in the direction right to left and that cuts across the grain. It's more awkward. A bit like stroking your dog from tail to head perhaps. That said, this is the way the rock pool actually appears though. Cheers,

Interesting exposure. I can't tell if it's underexposed, or over exposed, or right-on exposed. The black patches look void of detail, but so do the white spots of lichen. Very puzzling. I tend to agree with Ilan. As a composition, it does seem to flow better when flipped. Moving the eye from the left to the right and in so doing moving into the massive parts of the rock seems more difficult than going the other way. But going the other way, that is, from the massive parts to the thinner parts, is difficult if heading from the right to the left.

Great subject, but could have resulted in a better shot imo. What's missing imo is a great light in the first place, and I find personally, that darkening the rocks and saturating a bit the greens alone would help. Basically it feels a bit flat with this light, but a little dodging and burning could help the mood. As for composition, it is very fine by me, but I agree that it would be nicer flipped. Best regards.

The rock textures don't appear as well here as they do in your other rock photo. And although the vegetation and composition is interesting this one doesnt have as much appeal as the other.
