Buachaille Etive Mor, Glencoe, ScotlandMost folk from my part of the world have a shot of the Buachaille lording it over Rannoch moor and this is currently my favourite. The lighting is indescribably soft and almost shadowless, yet it has managed to put some texture into the tesselated structure of the mountain. It has also lifted the delicate frost muted hues of heather and grass, just sufficiently to reveal a surprisingly rich tapestry of colours beneath. I'm sure this version wont be to everyones taste but it has such a realistic walk into clarity to it, successfully transporting me back there again. Please view LARGE it's better.Pentax 67 II, 55-100 zoom, Fujichrome Velvia0.45ND grad, f/22 at 2 seconds

Soft winter light barely lifts the frost muted hues to reveal a

delicate tapestry of colour and the tesselated ledges of the

Buachaille beyond. I suspect most will prefer a more vibrant

interpretation of this wonderful peak but this will do me nicely.

Ian - nice to see a new treatment of the big shepherd. I like the muted look - our hills are like that. Only comment - cutting the 2 snow-topped rocks on the left takes the eye out left. Darken the frosted tops?

A very good and a different rendition on the often photographed location. I do not miss the vibrancy of colors. The prevalence of gray tones and the rather uniform unmenacing sky give the shot a special calm atmosphere.

I freezed here by this amazing cool mood and very fine subtle colors which very suits to this scene. Congratulations for your choice.

Hamid.

I know, that this kind of light is very hard to find, and catch, maybe harder than the vibrant coloured one. excellent

Very innovative and aesthetic landscape shot due to a great compo, lights and subtle colors and contrasts of shapes. Can actually feel the cold, smell the air and "hear" the silence... ;-) Impressive and inspiring. BR / Volker

An excellent image Ian. Excellent composition, beautiful muted colors, and an unassuming sky work wonders in this subtle, but sweet image.

All the best,
Neil
