After 4 days of steady rain, this water is is a bit more colorful than 'normal' and it runs with more force for this time of year. This one lonely maple leaf was not planted there and with the force of water, I was surprised that it had not dislodged and washed downstream.

A very pleasing composition.  I particularly like the reflections of light in the water causing the thin streaks.  Good shutter speed choice.

This is really nice. It's quite relaxing.

I might be alone on this one but one interesting point (that I quite like) is the strange way the water on the top left looks somewhat like cling-film or packing wrap (like you get in the airport).

The only negative thing is the ground on the bottom left. I think it looks too out of place in an otherwise high-key composition. It may have benefited from being sharper (if possible), but this may have made the composition worse, I'm not sure.

Either way, It's a really nice photo.

Another excellent image, Tony...wonderful depiction of the force of water through slow shuttering...lovely light and it created some patterns over the flow of water...wonderfully composed at the diagonals and the touch of red...lovely...my best

Technically this is very good, as the range of tones is quite wide without significant loss in the highlights.  I like this kind of image, however, without your imaginative title I'm afraid I would be guessing as to the nature of the orange submerged object (leaf).  Its too bad there wasn't something else present in the frame to provide context.

Barry: I appreciate the time it took to visit and write your insightful comment. It is useful info to see how other photographers react to an image. The red maple leaf is not well defined in this image and I wondered if anyone would feel 'out of place' as a result of that. The plastic effect I find unusual and pleasing but it is good to get your reaction. All the best.

Jim - I am in agreement with your comments. My attraction initially was that small maple leaf and it was all blurred but i loved the rest of the image. What to do? Fortunately I have another one  which has the leaf better defined but i did like the wave action as much as this. Is it time to bring out the software magic box?

Here is the 'other image" in this folder
