taschin 0 Posted October 2, 2010 This shot is one of my first photos made with my contax. It has been simply done placing the orchid in front of a sponge painted wall of my house. Thank you for every your criticisms. Link to comment
sonneland 0 Posted October 2, 2010 Andrea, things that i like here would be the lay of the orchid flowers, like how they have both face and back view on same stem, also really like the darkness of stem, makes for nice contrast. think image needs a bit of breathing room at top, also might take a bit off of right side. the borders and frame don't work for me, but they seldom do. am a bit quirky as far as their concerned. as to your colors, not quite sure on them, like your b/g colors and stem goes great with them but not so sure about flowers, is easy for them to get lost, especially the ones facing. gsaphoto 2 Posted October 2, 2010 Excellent shot, excellent composition, excellent presentation. Every thing in right place -- forms, colors, texture. 7/7 Link to comment
taschin 0 Posted October 3, 2010 Thanks Roger and Grigoriy for your helpful comments. Roger, thank you for your costructive criticism. I'm agree with you: the photo would be better with a more breathing room at hte top and a t the right. About the colors, this photo was shot under the light of a usual tungsten lamp, so I had to retouch the colors in order to remove the reddish dominant, and this is the best I was able to do. pfranklin 0 Posted October 4, 2010 What I like about this is that you are trying to get creative and shoot something "out of the norm" ...which you have accomplished. I am not sold on the bg, like Roger said, the flowers get a bit lost but not so much that you can't appreciate them. The composition is visually pleasing and nice job with indoor lighting from a lamp which is going to be tricky to manage for any photo. I hope you keep the creative side and keep trying new things!Warm regards, Pamela Link to comment
