jimmckinnon 3 Posted September 25, 2010 Marianna, this looks like a place I would like to see in person. Your inclusion of the natural rock adds dimension and explanation to the image. Are the colors pretty true, as seen here? Thanks for sharing this shot. Link to comment
aarkp 2 Posted September 25, 2010 a fine, well-lit perspective... i too wonder about the reality of the colors, amazing as they are Link to comment
marianna_safronova 0 Posted September 25, 2010 The colors of the canyon are amazing, reminiscent of Zion but with some pink hues. This one was taken late in the evening when it was less crowded but sun was gone from the structure itself, so I have done color correction (for example, it was too pink). Colors vary very much with the light.I am attaching raw camera close up shot taken earlier in the day with the sunlight. No correction of any kind was done to this one (vivid camera setting on D200) and I saved jpg at 100%, so you can judge better. It is magnificent place to visit but it is incredibly crowded (beyond any reasonable expectation and in comparison, for example, to high visited US national parks). There are buggies, donkeys, camels, etc. All very clean and orderly. We had maybe 200-300 people total group and we just dissolved in the crowd there. There are some utterly incredible color in sort of caves there ( I will post later). I have see colors of the stone in the caves there that I have never seen anywhere else (almost purple).Best regards,Marianna Link to comment
aarkp 2 Posted September 25, 2010 Thank you, Marianna, for clarifying these things... we are supposed to critique the photographs, but with so much manipulation to be seen, where nature's time weathered sculpting become masterpieces of conceptualized art, such photographs - with their documentary nature and witness to extraordinary sights - raise questions in our minds as to their authenticity... it seems to be you have been quite judicious in your color correction... i look forward now to seeing more of your posts with avid interest... if i may, i would like to offer you some advice: give us the facts beforehand when you submit for critique... it may perhaps garner more critiques, at least by people like me... best wishes, rajat Link to comment
john_nell 554 Posted September 28, 2010 Marianna. I was visiting here a few months back & am well informed on that the rock colour is really pink. You have done well capturing' The treasury' entirely without the ever present tourists. True to perspective, rich vibrant colours & sharpness makes this ancient building come to life.
